WANT Book Review

 Rating: 4.75/5

I started this book for my school's dystopian unit and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. The plot of this book fascinated me and kept me on the edge of my seat. The fact that the setting of this book could be our near future is pretty scary, and I think that the book emphasizes that fact. It sheds light on topics that are usually dismissed, and I believe that it is important that the book brings awareness to these social and global issues. The characters are very well written, and I couldn't put this book down! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fast-paced, interesting book.

Zhou, the protagonist, was a very determined, intelligent character. However, I was also drawn to his friends, and I wanted to learn more about them. I loved how they were all practically family and the interactions between them always seemed so real. The book was written so well and each time the setting changed I felt like I was there. Whether it was in the crowded night streets of the city, or the huge, sparkling mansion where parties were hosted, the details in each chapter were exquisite!

Taipei has been clouded by pollution, and only the rich can afford to buy suits to filter the toxic air. As the middle class and poor die, the rich extend their lives and live among the elite. Frustrated by corruption in their city, Zhou and his friends are determined to change things. When they dig deeper into the corporation that manufactures the suits, they discover that the corporation could be behind the pollution and sickness. Zhou and his friends infiltrate the lives of the rich to take down the corporation behind it all.
