Book Review: The Tell-Tale Heart
Rating: 4 out of 5
This book contains mature themes, such as murder.
I'm sure most of us have heard of Edgar Allan Poe. He's a well known writer, poet, editor, and literary critic, and wrote many books and short stories. As you might know, I enjoy reading horror books, and his books are perfect, because they are short but thrilling. The Tell-Tale Heart is the perfect read if you want a short but good horror story.
The Tell-Tale Heart is a short horror story, and is a first person narrative. It depicts the strong relationship between the truth and the heart, and that your guilty conscience will always win over, no matter how hard you try.
Although this book is a narrative, we never get to find out who is telling the story. But one thing is quite evident; the man wants you to know that he isn't crazy. He narrates the whole process, of how he got to this point, and why. Despite him telling the reader he isn't deranged, he is easily seen as a crazy killer, who killed his landlord. But according to him, it isn't for money and greed, but it's because his landlord is possessed by an "evil eye."
