The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe

Book Review: The Tell-Tale Heart Rating: 4 out of 5 This book contains mature themes, such as murder.  I'm sure most of us have heard of Edgar Allan Poe. He's a well known writer, poet, editor, and literary critic, and wrote many books and short stories. As you might know, I enjoy reading horror books, and his books are perfect, because they are short but thrilling. The Tell-Tale Heart is the perfect read if you want a short but good horror story. The Tell-Tale Heart is a short horror story, and is a first person narrative. It depicts the strong relationship between the truth and the heart, and that your guilty conscience will always win over, no matter how hard you try.  Although this book is a narrative, we never get to find out who is telling the story. But one thing is quite evident; the man wants you to know that he isn't crazy. He narrates the whole process, of how he got to this point, and why. Despite him telling the reader he isn't deranged, he is easily seen ...

Guest: A Changeling Tale by Mary Downing Hahn

Book Review: Guest: A Changeling Tale Rating: 3.75 out of 5 We all know fairies as these wonderful creatures, who wish blessing upon people, and protect us. What if I told you that in this book, the fairies are evil, and take people's babies? Are you intrigued yet? This book is a fantasy novel, and one genre that I like besides horror and thrillers is fantasy. Guest: A Changeling Tale is great for any reader who wants to read a short but interesting read.  Guest: a Changeling Tale is written by Mary Downing Hahn, a young adult author. It is a fantasy novel, based on Irish folklore. It follows the common theme of changelings, who are evil-fairy children, sent to replace the parents' real baby.  When an evil group of sprites called the Kinde Folk replace Mollie's brother with a rude and ill-tempered changeling, everything in Mollie's life starts to fall apart. She is now stuck with this changeling; whom she called "Guest," and is determined to return the change...

Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar

Book Review: Fuzzy Mud Rating: 4 out of 5 I'm pretty sure most of you guys reading this have heard of Louis Sachar. He's a well known author, mainly for his Wayside School series, and the book Holes. I never actually heard of this book until I received it as a gift. I put it aside for a few years, but I finally came around to reading it, and I really liked this book. It's part of the thriller genre, so I'd say that's another thing that drew me to it.  Tamaya, Chad, and Marshall attend Woodbridge Academy, in Heath Cliff, Pennsylvania. Tamaya is a good, straight-A student, and follows all the rules. Chad is a popular school bully, who just recently started attending Woodbridge Academy. Marshall was a popular student, but ever since he got on Chad’s bad side, he lost all his popularity and friends.  Tamaya isn’t allowed to walk home by herself, so she and Marshall always walk home from school together. But when Marshall is challenged to a fight by Chad, he decides to t...

I've always loved the thrill of reading books in this genre, and the suspense, even if it kept me up for a few nights. So when I saw #MurderTrending in the library, I was instantly interested in reading it. During that time, I wasn't reading that much, and I'd say reading this book really reminded me of why I like to read so much. This book was definitely interesting, and I'd recommend it to any horror/thriller lover! #Murder Trending by Gretchen McNeil is a thrilling and nail-biting dystopian-murder book. Gretchen McNeil balances the book with the perfect amount of murder and suspense, always keeping you on the edge of your seat. The book is fast paced, and there were many plot twists throughout the book. If you are looking for a good read and something to keep you interested, this book is for you.  When Dee ...
